What is Yoga Therapy?
What is yoga therapy?
Yoga Therapy is about empowering individuals to understand, face, and heal from harmful or limiting mental, emotional and physical conditions.
It is a wholistic approach, drawing extensively from the physical and philosophical traditions of Yoga, the healing framework of Ayurvedic medicine, the understandings of modern psychology and neuroscience, and the cultivation of self-awareness through mindfulness meditation.
Yoga Therapy offers nurturing, creative support and will always uphold your best self. Cat’s intention is to empower you as an active participant in your self-care.
The multi-disciplinary tools of yoga therapy can address a variety of needs, and are tailored to address each individual’s specific goals and challenges.

What can yoga therapy do for you?
During the (free) assessment session and early in our work we will establish an overall framework for meeting your goals.
Sessions normally start with a check-in to see how your issues are manifesting that day, and then continue with a customized blend of:
Relevant insights from Yoga/ Ayurveda/ Psychology/ Mindfulness;
A series of yoga asanas (postures) that specifically relate to what you’ve brought in that day, usually accompanied by guided imagery that ties the asana to the relief you seek; and
Mindfulness meditation.
We conclude by selecting at-home practices that will help you keep the healing and growth going between sessions. You receive a write-up of these practices.

“I’ve been taking private yoga instruction from Cat for almost three years now, and working with her has been phenomenal. Cat knows so much about different kinds of techniques for different needs, and takes the whole person into account: both spiritual and physical.
She’s incredibly caring and wise–also upbeat and fun! I heartily recommend Cat for any yoga practice instruction.”
